Dead Horse Lake Fishing

Dead Horse Lake Fishing In Southern Utah

Even though the road leading to Dead Lake or Dead Horse Lake has been closed, many anglers are still frequenting the place because the walk to the lake itself is just a few hundred yards. You won’t have to hike or trudge along a muddy or rough road just to get to this magnificent lake.

Dead Horse Lake fishing in Southern Utah is also quite a nice experience because aside from the short walk to the lake, you will also be able to rest while you fish because shoreline fishing is okay in this area. Because there are no weeds to block your casts, you will be able to catch large trout from the shoreline without much difficulty.

  • Primitive Camping

Even though the lake is near the road, camping in this area is still primitive. Staying here overnight is not really a hassle, though, because the place is clear and you don’t have to worry about black bear encounters. There are no thick aspen trees surrounding the shoreline of the lake, so you could set up a tent and enjoy your day at the lake.

There are quite a few trees at the shoreline, which is not a problem since they are not too many. There is still plenty of room for anglers to fish at the lake without much difficulty.

  • Winterkill

Because the lake is kind of shallow due to siltation, there are a few severe cases of winterkill. The lake is regularly stocked, though, so fish population is not a problem.
