Moosman Lake Fishing

Moosman Lake Fishing In Southern Utah

If you want to catch lots of fish, you might want to try Moosman Lake fishing in Southern Utah. The brookies in this lake are not picky and are not hard to bait so you will likely catch a fish on almost every cast. The only downside is that the brookies are often stunted – with small bodies and large heads – because of the overpopulation of the specie in the lake. But if you really want to take home lots of brookies, you might want to try fishing in here.

Moosman Lake in Southern Utah

  • Severe Decline

The lake was once trout trophy water until the beavers were removed from the lake. Because there were no more creatures to keep the water level up, the lake and the manmade dam made by Chris Moosman suffered a severe decline. No more large trout can be caught in the area. Thus, only regular sized cutthroat and trout can be caught in this lake.

  • Black Bear Sightings

Just like in most lakes in Boulder Mountain, black bear sighting is quite often in this area. Anglers are advised to take caution during their stay in this lake. Hiring a guide is also quite recommended, particularly to those who are new in fishing in the lake.

Being cautious is quite important as there are no improved camping facilities in the area. You should be careful as there are black bears that could be lurking around. You should bring everything that you will need because there are no inns and restaurants where you can buy food or camping and fishing gear.
