Oak Creek Reservoir Fishing

Oak Creek Reservoir Fishing In Southern Utah

Oak Creek Reservoir fishing in Southern Utah is quite an adventurous experience because of the rough drive that anglers will experience before reaching the lake. The four-kilometer spur road leading to the reservoir is quite rough so only large vehicles with high clearance are recommended to be used when going to this wonderful lake.

  • Fallen Aspen Trees

The fallen aspen trees also add to the adventure of anglers that go to this area. Because of the strong winds during summer afternoons that blow down trees, anglers are advised to bring an axe or chainsaw so that they can cut down branches that could block their way.

  • Fish Species

Brook trout are the main species that anglers can catch in this area. Large trout are often caught because the reservoir is also big and can feed the fishes that live in it. The depth of the lake is 28 ft., which is a bit deep, which enables trout to have enough room to grow even though they are known to proliferate.

Stunted fish are not really an issue in Oak Creek because trout can have lots of space and food in this area.

  • Guide Recommended

Because the reservoir is big, hiring a guide is recommended so that you will be able to fish in the most populated areas. Fishing guides are quite acquainted with the area so they know where anglers can find the largest trout in the lake. This makes the fishing trip more pleasant – aside from the adventurous ride going to the reservoir.
